⅜" Recycled Shingles | A Sustainable and Cost-Effective Aggregate Solution!
Choose ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles (RAS), a crushed aggregate made from reclaimed or repurposed asphalt shingles, typically sourced from residential roofing projects. With a maximum size of approximately ⅜ inch, this material includes various sizes, including fine particles or dust, ensuring compaction and stability.
We start with a 5-ton order. We can deliver less, but the delivery fee for 1 to 5 tons stays the same. For larger orders, contact us directly.
Discover the benefits of using environmentally friendly and cost-effective recycled shingles in a range of applications:
1. Asphalt Mixtures: Incorporate recycled shingles into new hot-mix asphalt for road construction or repairs, reducing new asphalt binder requirements and lowering costs.
2. Road Base & Sub-Base: Utilize ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles as a base or sub-base material for road construction, creating a solid foundation for asphalt or concrete surfaces.
3. Dust Control: Apply compacted recycled shingles to dirt roads or unpaved surfaces to minimize dust and enhance driving conditions.
4. Temporary Roads: Use recycled shingles to construct temporary roads or access paths for construction sites or events.
5. Energy Production: In some instances, processed waste shingles can serve as fuel for energy production facilities.
Consider your project's specific requirements and consult local or regional standards and guidelines to ensure you use the appropriate material.

"How Much Do I Need?"
⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles is an eco-friendly material made by processing and repurposing used asphalt shingles from residential and commercial roofs. This sustainable material is a mixture of crushed shingle particles ranging in size from ⅜ inches to fine particles. It is commonly used in various applications, such as road base layers and driveways, and as a component in hot mix asphalt (HMA) production.
To determine how much ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles you need for a project, follow these steps:
1. Measure the area you want to cover in square feet. To do this, multiply the length (in feet) by the width (in feet). For example, if you have a 10-foot by 20-foot area, the square footage would be 200 square feet (10 ft x 20 ft = 200 sq ft).
2. Determine the desired depth of the ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles layer. This may vary depending on the specific application. Still, a depth of 2 to 4 inches is typically recommended for driveways and road base layers.
3. Convert the desired depth to feet. For example, if you want a 3-inch layer, divide 3 by 12 (since there are 12 inches in a foot) to get 0.25 feet.
4. Multiply the square footage of the area (calculated in Step 1) by the desired depth in feet (calculated in Step 3) to obtain the volume in cubic feet. For example, if you have 200 square feet of area and want a 3-inch layer, you would need 50 cubic feet of ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles (200 sq ft x 0.25 ft = 50 cu ft).
5. To convert cubic feet to tons, you will need to know the specific weight of the shingles, which the supplier typically provides. The weight can vary depending on the source material and processing methods. Still, a standard weight for recycled shingles is around 1.2 tons per cubic yard (or about 0.045 tons per cubic foot).
6. Multiply the volume in cubic feet (calculated in Step 4) by the weight per cubic foot (from Step 5) to determine the total weight in tons. For example, if you need 50 cubic feet of ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles weighing 0.045 tons per cubic foot, you would need 2.25 tons (50 cu ft x 0.045 tons/cu ft = 2.25 tons).
With this information, you can calculate the amount of ⅜" Minus Recycled Shingles needed for any project regarding square footage, depth, and weight.
